UA Telescope Pioneer to Receive Medal Minted Close to Home

UA News September 2010 | The Kavli Prize medal Roger Angel will receive during a ceremony in Norway for his pioneering advances in telescope design was struck from pure gold in an elaborate process not far from the UA.  Roger Angel, director of the University of Arizona Steward Observatory Mirror Lab and Regents' Professor of Astronomy and Optical Sciences, will receive the Kavli Prize during a ceremony in Oslo, Norway, on Sept. 7. The eight laureates each will receive a scroll, a gold medal and their share of the $1 million prize for each of the three fields, astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience.  more>
